PICO DO ITACOLOMI

Trekking – History – Landscapes – Estrada Real

 

DESCRIPTION

Itacolomi comes from the Indian Tupi, ita ( stone) and kununmî ( minion), mountain child.

We will have a trek from the parks center to the peak of Itacolomi, which was used in the 17th and 18th century as a geographical reference. On our way to the top we will be able to contemplate the flora and fauna while having a beautiful view over Ouro Preto. On top of the peak we will have a picknick before getting back to the parks center. There we will have time to visit the first settlement of Ouro Preto and the tea-museum.

 

 

DAYPLANNING

·       Pick up ate your hotel.

·       On our way to the state park Itacolomi.

·       Arrival at the park; instructions and stretching.

• Trekking – in direction to the peak (panoramic view – 360°), along the way explanations about the flora and fauna, geography and history of the place.

• Pick nick (after the walk it´s time to recharge the batteries).

• Returning to the Center of the park.

• Returning to the Center of Ouro Preto.
